parshat vayetze
this weeks parsha is parshat vayetze. my class's children learned about Yaakov and how twelve stones all fought to be kov's pillow. they learned how Hashem made a miracle and all the stones became one. they also learned about Yaakov's dream where he saw a ladder with Malachim going up and down.
brachos
Hahaon Rav chayim Kanievski said that it is imperative to urge parents, teachers, and principals everywhere to encourage children to make their brachos out loud and with proper kavanah. One way to start doing this, he suggested, is to tell them to both pray and recite Birkas Hamazon form a siddur. children should be rewarded for doing this, and should have the meaning of the brachos explained to them, each time focusing on a different brachah
the Gemara (Brachos 53b) tells us, the one who answers Amen has grater mitzvah than the one who made the bracha. When Habaon RAv chayim Kanievski, shlita, was asked several years ago what we should all be doing in light of the tragedies and suffering Klal Yisrael is going through, Hashem yeracheim, he answered that we have to awaken ourselves and others to do teshuvah, to pray with all our hearts, and to do good deeds.
